In uncertain times like these, you must be careful how you spend your hard earned money. When it comes to healthcare needs of a sensitive nature, it pays to be skeptical and do the research before you try a new product.
Unfortunately many unscrupulous companies on the internet today are promoting unproven and possibly dangerous herpes simplex treatments for financial gain. RESEARCH CONDUCTED BY PROCTER & GAMBLE
In Vitro and In Vivo Evaluation of the Activity of Stannous Compounds Against Herpes Simplex Virus
"Treatment with SnF2 or Sn Gluconate resulted in reduction of recurrences compared to untreated controls. These results are encouraging and suggest that stannous compounds might be useful in the treatment or prevention of HSV infections. Further studies are needed to determine the mechanism of action of this unique class of anti-herpes drugs."

Why this is important:
This study suggests Medavir's Stannous Compounds might be useful in treatment or prevention of herpes simplex outbreaks.

RESEARCH CONDUCTED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA
In-Vitro Studies Reveal Medavir is Virucidal at Therapeutic Doses
Studies conducted at the University of Manitoba, Canada, demonstrate that therapeutic doses of Medavir appear to have a direct effect on the herpes simplex virus. Data shows that Medavir ingredients possess both virucidal and antiviral properties.

NATIONAL MEDICAL JOURNALS CONTAINING Medavir STUDIES
Clinical Effect of Medavir Gel Preparation on Herpes Zoster Virus Outbreak
Recent studies have shown Medavir to successfully control several strains of the herpes virus in humans. In one study, the purpose was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Medavir's topical gel on reduction of pain and itch associated with trigeminal dermatomal reactivation of varicella zoster virus, commonly known as shingles.

The study involved twelve patients; six in one group having chronic pain and active shingles less than 3 days, and six patients in another group having trigeminal pain (post herpetic neuralgia) without lesions from previous shingles of less than 1 year. Each patient applied the Medavir topical gel as needed to control their pain and itching.

Results demonstrated that the Medavir gel relieved the pain and itching in both groups for an average of 3 hours after each application. Furthermore, rashes and blisters associated with shingles in the active lesion group resolved in less than 3 weeks with little or no scarring and without post herpetic pain.

This study confirmed that Medavir gel applications during varicella reactivationmay prevent the severity of nerve damage that often leads to long-term post herpetic neuralgia in about 10% of patients. It further indicated that clinical application of Medavir gel can benefit patients who suffer from a reactivation of a trigeminal varicella zoster virus infection.

Treatment of Herpes Simplex Labialis with Medavir Stannous Compounds.
Two controlled double blind studies designed to assess the antiviral properties of Medavir have been presented. Their results demonstrate that the antimicrobial properties of Medavir gel that inhibit bacteria, also inhibit the herpes viruses. Both studies confirm that the topical application of the proprietary preparation of Medavir gel for Herpes Simplex Labialis: limit full outbreaks; accelerate healing time; reduce the number of recurrences, and alleviate patient discomfort.

Although the data in this paper are preliminary, the findings are significant enough to warrant additional research on the use of Medavir gel as a topical treatment for the herpes simplex virus.
